A British couple had a lucky escape after they were left stranded in shark infested waters. Jeff and Julie Byrne from Cumbria were scuba diving on holiday in Mauritius when they re-surfaced to discover their boat had disappeared. They then spent 7 hours in shark infested waters before being rescued. Jeff told 5 live’s Nicky Campbell he felt “a really sharp bump” against his left fin. “I didn’t put my head in the water, I didn’t want to see them. I thought if they’re going to come they’re going to come, there’s nothing you can do.” Jeff also said he has had “no explanation whatsoever” as to why the boat abandoned them.
