Women in Britain swear up to ten times more often than men, a new study says. Researchers from Lancaster University and the Cambridge University Press say women are ten times more likely to say ‘sh**’ than men and use the word ‘f***’ four times as often as they did in the early 1990s. 5 live Drive spoke to comedian Jane Godley who is, in her own words, a “prolific swearer”. She said: “One of the first questions I get asked when I say I’m a comedian is do you swear – they wouldn’t ask that to a man”. “Just because I do it in my Scottish accent, and I’m working class, it sounds like I mean it more,” she added.
