What does an 18th century glass armonica sound like?

Outlook

Available for over a year

If you ever go to Williamsburg, in the US state of Virginia, you might feel like you've stepped back into the 18th century. Well that would be entirely intentional - the city's historical district is designed to look that way. And it sounds that way too. As you wander around, you might hear the music of a glass instrument, invented by a Founding Father no less, that you play with wet fingers like you might with the rim of a wine glass... Here's what it sounds like... Image: Dean Shostak playing the glass armonica Credit: Dean Shostak
