The winner of this year's AKO Caine Prize for African Writing has been announced: Nigerian-British writer Irenosen Okojiefor won with her short story ‘Grace Jones’. It centres around Sidra, a young woman from Martinique battling with grief and trauma, who relives the tragedy of losing her entire family. She makes a living as an impersonator of the iconic Jamaican singer and actress Grace Jones. The judges said Irenosen's story was radical and defied convention, calling it dazzling, imaginative and bold.
