Irenosen Okojie wins the 2020 Caine Prize
The winner of this year's AKO Caine Prize for African Writing has been announced: Nigerian-British writer Irenosen Okojiefor won with her short story ‘Grace Jones’. It centres around Sidra, a young woman from Martinique battling with grief and trauma, who relives the tragedy of losing her entire family. She makes a living as an impersonator of the iconic Jamaican singer and actress Grace Jones. The judges said Irenosen's story was radical and defied convention, calling it dazzling, imaginative and bold. Bola Mosuro has been has been talking to her about her win.
