"How many lives can you have within a lifetime"

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

The play has been written as a monologue and is currently being staged at the Bridge Theatre in London. It  considers the plight, anger and pain of refugees and asylum seekers. The failures of the UK immigration system were highlighted recently, following the death in August of Mercy Baguma, an asylum seeker from Uganda. The one-man show entitled, 'Nine Lives' is about Ishmael, a gay Zimbabwean asylum seeker who is sent to the city of Leeds while he awaits the Home Office, the UK's ministry of interior, to decide his case. Focus on Africa's Esau Williams introduces the monologue. (Image & Credit: Zodwa Nyoni)
