In Finland, Parliament has voted in favour of making the ban on female genital mutilation more explicitly enshrined in law. With its decision, the legislature gave partial support to a citizens' initiative calling for a separate law banning FGM. Ujuni Ahmed is an FGM specialist and human rights activist in Helsinki.
