Kenyan senator Ledama Olekina has caused a stir by wearing traditional Maasai dress to perform his duties at the National Assembly. He tells Focus on Africa’s Nora Fakim that his attire is a conscious rejection of colonialism. “When the British colonial masters left, we remained with the standing orders that they had put in place, which do not allow any African attire to be worn.
