The Kenyan senator wearing Maasai dress in the National Assembly
Kenyan senator Ledama Olekina has caused a stir by wearing traditional Maasai dress to perform his duties at the National Assembly. He tells Focus on Africa鈥檚 Nora Fakim that his attire is a conscious rejection of colonialism. 鈥淲hen the British colonial masters left, we remained with the standing orders that they had put in place, which do not allow any African attire to be worn. I decided that it鈥檚 about time to change.鈥
