Looking back on the life of Sadiq al-Mahdi, the last democratically-elected prime minister of Sudan. He was overthrown by the military coup which brought Omar al-Bashir to power in 1989, and has passed away in the UAE at the age of 84, after receiving treatment for Covid-19.
