Remembering Sudan's last democratically-elected PM
Looking back on the life of Sadiq al-Mahdi, the last democratically-elected prime minister of Sudan. He was overthrown by the military coup which brought Omar al-Bashir to power in 1989, and has passed away in the UAE at the age of 84, after receiving treatment for Covid-19. Mohanad Hashim, executive director for content at the Sudan Radio and Television Corporation, tells the 麻豆社's Esau Williams that Sadiq al-Mahdi's death comes at a critical time for Sudanese politics.
