Netherton鈥檚 Titanic Anchor

Hidden Black Country

Available for over a year

We take an in-depth look into the Black Country鈥檚 links to the Titanic. The ill-fated ship sank on 15th April 1912 on its鈥 maiden voyage. The ship鈥檚 anchor 鈥 at the time the largest in the world - was made in Netherton by the manufacturing firm Noah Hingley & Sons. A lifesize, commemorative replica of the anchor now stands in Netherton town centre. Russell Truran visited Birmingham historian and Titanic expert Andy Lound to find out more.
