Iraqi novelist Sinan Antoon on war, memory and exile

Weekend

Available for over a year

Sinan Antoon is an Iraqi poet and writer, born and raised in Baghdad. He has published two collections of poetry and five novels. His latest novel 'Notes from a Lost Country' follows the lives of two Iraqi men whose lives have been shaped by conflict and exile. In a tale that is all too familiar to people around the world - the book explores what refugees and immigrants really carry with them across oceans and borders - and whether it is ever possible to leave your homeland behind. He spoke to Weekend's Julian Worricker about the characters in his book. (Photo: Sinan Antoon. Credit: Ibtisam Azem)
