Tees Paralympians

Following the success of Tees athletes in the Beijing Olympic Games, three Teessiders are now competing in the Paralympic Games.

Kenny Churchill

Kenny Churchill

Kenny was born in Middlesbrough in 1975, but now lives in Loughborough. He has attended four Paralympic Games (1992, 1996, 2000 & 2004). He won a bronze medal in the javelin in Barcelona in 1992 and a new world record earned him gold in Atlanta in 1996, where he also won bronze in the shot. In 2000, the Sydney Paralympics saw听Kenny win a further gold in the javelin and in Athens 2004, another gold and another world record.

Terry Bywater

Terry Bywater

Born in Middlesbrough in 1983, Terry now lives in Redcar and is a veteran of the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. In Greece, he was part of our bronze medal winning basketball team.

Lee Fawcett

Lee Fawcett

32 year old Lee is Middlesbrough born and bred and is Britain's sole fencing representative at Beijing. This will be Lee's first Paralympic Games and he will compete in the class B foil and sabre.
