    Tidemark Edinburgh Fringe Experience 2004
    Wednesday 11 August 2004

We saw a really great piece of theatre last night.

Local group Leitheatre put on a piece of Scottish comedy every year at the Fringe, to help keep the Scottish language alive.

This year they have produced 'Walk into my Parlour' which is a gentle 17th century Scottish farce.

The audience was made up of four Tidemark company members (Sassenachs) and about 50 locals and it took a wee while for us to get into the language, (even though, as you may recall, I am actually a Scot - according to our review in the Scotsman that is).

Indeed, as the first few jokes flew straight over our heads, we turned to each other in bafflement, and searched desperately in the programme for a glossary.

Sadly, there wasn't one but thanks to some excellent performances, we soon got the gist of things and ended up laughing along heartily with my fellow country-men.

Rebecca will be reporting on Tidemark's experiences throughout this year's Festival. Come back to see how she's doing!
