Red Kites to Ireland

Red kites from Wales spread their wings to Ireland.

Red Kite chicks from Powys are being sent to Ireland to re-establish the birds there. The young birds are collected from nests in the wild by members of the , brought to an aviary at the at Rhayader before being shipped to and in Northern Ireland. Rachael James hears how the four year project is being undertaken to give Red Kites a foothold in Ireland where the native population died out almost two centuries ago.
