Fighting hunger, tackling food waste

Two big issues - Food Poverty and Waste. One simple idea.....take surplus food from the food industry and redistribute to people in the community who really need it

say that every year about 40,000 tonnes of good food is dumped from the food industry in Wales and good part of that is edible. So their aim is to solve reduce the waste that the industry creates and divert the food to disadvantaged people who could benefit from eating it. is a growing movement and the depot in Cardiff is just setting up - it will be officially opened later this month by the Environment Minister, John Griffiths as part of the Welsh Government's strategy.

Rachael James joins the Fareshare Cymru team to collect some surplus Moussaka from and redistribute some much needed food goods to the homelessness charity .
