Kirsty
Don't panic! English follows the Gaelic!
Dè an t-ainm a th' ort? Ciorstaidh.
Co às a tha thu?/ Cà ite a bheil thu a' fuireach? Tha mi a' fuireach ann an Gall Ghà idhealaibh faisg air an aiseag gu Èireann.
Dè thog d' ùidh anns a' chà nan? Nuair a bha mi mu thrì bhliadhna a dh'aois, bha mo sheanair a' teagaisg abairtean beaga dhomh fhìn agus dha mo bhrà thair agus nuair a dh'fhàs mi na bu shine thug e na teipichean is bhideothan aige dhomh.
A bheil molaidhean agad airson luchd-ionnsachaidh eile? Na bi a' smaointinn gu bheil Gà idhlig eu-comasach ri ionnsachadh. Bha mise den bheachd gun robh mi a' dìocuimhneacheadh a h-uile rud agus sguir mi ag ionnsachadh, ach an uair sin, dh'fheuch mi a-rithist.
Ciamar a tha thu a' cleachdadh Gà idhlig nad bheatha là itheil? Is mise an aon duine le Gà idhlig san teaghlach agam, ach bidh mi a' feuchainn ri sgrìobhadh anns a' Ghà idhlig, no a' freagairt dhaoine anns a' Ghà idhlig, ach cha bhi iad gam thuigsinn.
Dè an abairt Ghà idhlig as fheà rr leat? An drà sta, ‘s e ‘Is math sin' air sgà th ‘s gu bheil e a' ciallachadh gu bheil rudeigin math agus cluinnear e mar ‘smashing!' =D
‘S e mi fhèin is mo bhrà thair a th' anns an dealbh seo, nuair a chaidh sinn air chuairt don Dunragit Mote! ‘S e à ite à lainn a th'ann. Bha mi air tursachan fiodha a lorg le seann chrèadhadaireachd!
What's your name? Kirsty (Coirstaidh I think in Gaelic).
Where do you stay/are you from? I live in Galloway, right next to the crossing over to Ireland!
What inspired you to learn Gaelic? When I was about three my grandpa would teach me and my brother little phrases and when i got older he gave me his learning tapes and videos.
What tips do you have for other Gaelic learners? Don't think it's impossible! I thought that after I was constantly forgetting and gave up but then I tried again!
How do you use Gaelic in your daily lives? I'm the only one in my family that can speak Gaelic but I try writing in Gaelic sometimes or just answering people in Gaelic, even if they don't understand =)
Do you have a favourite Gaelic expression? Right now its "is math sin", because it means that's good and when you say it, it sounds like you're saying "smashing!" =D

The picture is of me and my brother when we went on a walk to the Dunragit mote! It's such a beautiful place! Even a woodhenge was found there along with ancient pottery!
