Wakefield
Cathedral is still serves as the parish church of All Saints.
A
church has stood on the site in Northgate in the centre of
the city since Saxon times. The present building was built
in the 14th century and restored in the 19th century by the
architect Gilbert Scott. It became a cathedral in 1888.
At
247 feet the spire is the tallest in Yorkshire and the fourth
highest in England.
