In this early evening concert, the exceptional young musicians of Guildhall School of Music and Drama survey Boulez鈥檚 formative chamber works. From strikingly bold solo works for piano and violin, to shimmering ensemble pieces, the unique vibrancy of Boulez鈥檚 instrumental writing is revealed with sparkling clarity. The concert closes with Boulez鈥檚 twelve miniatures for solo piano, which Boulez playfully composed to make fun of the twelve tone serialism technique being used by some of his contemporaries. The 麻豆社 Symphony Orchestra presents his orchestrated versions of some of these Notations in the 7.30pm concert later today.
