The
museum explores the history, traditions and culture of the
island in an exciting and interactive way, with plenty of
exhibits and activities on offer. Part of the museum has been
restored to recreate 'The Merchant's House', showing the house
of a wealthy shipbuilding family in the 18th and 19th centuries.

museum takes the sea and Jersey's relationship with it as its
theme. It explores the experiences of islanders and Jersey's
maritime history. The museum is split into three areas - the
elements, the boats and the people. There is also a restoration
area, where work is being carried out on an historic boat. |

Occupation Tapestry tells the story of life in Jersey during
the German Occupation through the eyes of the islanders. There
are 12 panels - each one designed and created by a different
parish - and each panel explores a different element of the
occupation. |

museum is situated in a restored German bunker, and has both
British and German military aretefacts on display, from uniforms
and equipment to motorcycles and paperwork. |

museum has an extensive collection of uniforms, military equipment,
field vehicles and documents. Original World War II footage
can be seen, and shows how the war affected Jersey and how the
islanders coped with no food and no supplies. |
