From Amsterdam鈥檚 Dutch Summer Concerts, pianist V铆kingur 脫lafsson joins the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali for Beethoven鈥檚 majestic Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73, 鈥淓mperor鈥. Also, the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, directed by violinist Michael Waterman, performs Brahms鈥檚 String Sextet No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 18, a work of warmth, lyricism and youthful energy.
At the Utrecht Early Music Festival, Ensemble Correspondances, directed by S茅bastien Dauc茅, performs Michel-Richard de Lalande鈥檚 Dies irae, bringing the drama and grandeur of French Baroque music to life.
From the Edinburgh International Festival, the Pavel Haas Quartet performs Korngold鈥檚 String Quartet No. 2, Op. 26, a richly lyrical work from the composer best known for his film scores.
