The Â鶹Éç's economic editor Robert Peston said it's "genuinely shocking" how poor the prognosis is for people with lung cancer, which he thinks is related to late diagnosis.

Robert Peston's wife, the author Sian Busby, died of lung cancer in 2012. Robert Peston said Sian was diagnosed four months later than she should have been, because an NHS walk-in centre didn't X-ray her when they should have done.

The journalist believes had the X-ray been carried out earlier, his wife may still be alive, as late diagnosis of cancer means a greater likelihood of death.
