The man behind a note attached to a donated wedding dress has been found. He's an 85 year old "gentleman" who wishes to be an "anonymous hero".
The dress - a 1950s tule and lace wedding dress - was donated to the St Gemma's hospice shop in Leeds. When staff were sorting the items they discovered the heartfelt note attached the the lace of the dress.
"I wish any lady who takes this dress to have a life with her loved one for 56 years like I did. Happy years. I was a lucky man to marry a lady like mine."
Nichola Woodgate from the charity decided to try to trace the note's author. Speaking to 5 live Daily she said she had found the man and spoken to him:
鈥淗e鈥檚 absolutely thrilled with the response", she said. "He鈥檚 overwhelmed with it鈥e can鈥檛 believe that something he thought was a humble donation has got international recognition".
The dress is now for sale on ebay, and has attracted attention from all over the world. Nichola told 5 live that people have contacted the hospice to say they would love to have this dress as 鈥渋t was worn by someone who had a really happy marriage and a very happy life鈥 .
The winning bidder will get the dress and the note, and a little more detail about the dress鈥檚 history.
