Two Wrexham fans win case after police issued order which stopped them getting to an away game

A father and son have successfully challenged the police over the use of a dispersal order which stopped them, and around 60 other fans, travelling to an away game.

The minibus taking Wrexham fans to a league match against Grimsby in March 2016 was stopped by police an hour before kick-off and ordered back to Wrexham.

The father and son have received compensation.

Amanda Jacks, from the Football Supporter's Federation, said this type of order was regularly against fans.

She said: "The incredibly successful ruling now means that police must individually assess every person in a group before enforcing these draconian measures."

A spokesman for Humberside Police said they'd accepted the fans "should not have been issued with the notices" and that additional training around the use of dispersal had been put in place.
