5 live are taking an in depth look at something which occupies probably a third of our life 鈥 sleep, and how extreme sleep disorders can have a huge impact on people鈥檚 lives.
We spoke to David White, who suffers from night terrors. He said: 鈥淲hen it started it was a nightmare, like a monster coming down at me.鈥
David had to physically tie himself to the bed when Sue, his wife, was away and unable to take care of him.
Sue said: 鈥淎t one stage, he dived out of bed and hit his head and I thought he鈥檇 broken his neck. It鈥檚 terrifying for me, he鈥檚 attacked me and given me bruises, but he is so placid, I know that鈥檚 not him.鈥
