Kenyan Court rules for a father's right to child custody
A Kenyan court has ruled that men can have custody of children below ten years for the first time. Traditionally, when there is a dispute between the two parents, courts have automatically given custody of children younger than ten to the mother, known as the "tender years doctrine". Kavraj Kaur Sagoo is a lawyer at Kavraj Kaur Associates who filed the case at Nakuru Court; she tells Focus on Africa's Paul Bakibinga how significant this ruling is in changing how parental custody is granted in Kenya.
