Redditch Tory MP accused of transphobic remarks
The Conservative MP for Redditch, Rachel Maclean, has been accused of making transphobic remarks about a transgender woman from Worcestershire.
Earlier this week Mrs MacLean, who used to be the Government's minister for safeguarding, shared a post by someone else on X - or Twitter - which called Melissa Poulton "a man who wears a wig".
Miss Poulton has just been announced as the Green Party parliamentary candidate for Bromsgrove. She told us she was born a biological man but became Melissa last year.
In a now deleted post Rachel Maclean commented "While the Greens don't know what a woman is, my Worcestershire neighbours... certainly do". Those are comments which Melissa Poulton has called 'transphobic', and 'dog whistling.
Melissa has been speaking to our political reporter James Pearson.
