5 Live presenter takes part in experiment to boost memory and brain function
Rachel Burden does exercises to boost her memory and brain function.
Radio 5 Live Breakfast presenter Rachel Burden has been taking part in an experiment over the course of a month to try to boost her memory and brain function.
As part of 5 Live鈥檚 鈥楳e, My Health And I鈥 series, she has been looking at the impact that menopause can have on brain function. Rachel met a team from Liverpool John Moores University who set this experiment and have been running tests on her memory.
Rachel has been doing a variety of brain exercises and also switched to a Mediterranean-style diet of fish and vegetables, along with eating less red meat and drinking less alcohol.
Dr Samantha Brooks, a reader of cognitive neuroscience in the school of psychology at Liverpool John Moores, told Rachel that the month-long challenge is the equivalent of going to the gym: 鈥淚f you go for a couple of weeks, you will feel good. But if you leave it, you will get flabby again.鈥
The experiment included several tests on memory recall which Rachel has also been doing multiple times a day at home鈥atch to see how she got on!
