Defending Worcestershire Sauce from 'an imposter'
麻豆社 Hereford & Worcester's Elliott Webb puts Lea & Perrins against 麻豆社 Radio Sheffield's Sam Nixon and the upstart rival, Henderson's, after the latter was spotted adding 'Worcester' to its packaging.
The iconic 'original and genuine' orange and black sauce, which is still made in Worcester, was part of the war effort in the First World War. Hendo's, as the sauce is known in Yorkshire, has a strapline of 'strong and northern'.
Worcestershire Sauce includes anchovies, which makes it unsuitable for vegetarians, whilst Henderson's Sauce is suitable for vegans.
Lea & Perrins has a Royal Warrant, whilst many celebrities including Sean Bean and The Arctic Monkeys are on record as being fans of the Sheffield-made relish.
The 麻豆社 has contacted Lea & Perrins, and Henderson's Relish, for comment, and other sauces are available.
