Hereford 1945: Singing, dancing and remembering
Grace Woolaway was 21 on VE Day, helping to make bombs at RAD Madley. She shares memories of taking the bus in to Hereford, to mark the German surrender on 08 May 1945.
The former munitions worker tells Kate Justice about the conflicting emotions of that day, the joy and the poignancy of remembering what had gone before.
At Fernhill House Care Home, she also reflects on how she met her husband for the first time, at the air base, over a pickled onion!
