"I adore RadioÌý4 and have it on at all times but especially Ìýwhilst working in my studio. I discovered when I was an Ìýart student that it was much better for my "thinking brain" to be engaged elsewhere whilst my hands and eyes got on with the job of painting. Music is somehow too emotional whereas the spoken word keeps at bay the part of the brain that wants to put on any creative brakes. It is also interesting just how many bizarre facts and ideas creep into my mind whilst absorbed in the two activities only to surface at a later date."
