"The ideas for my paintings come from travelling; images Ìýmemorised passing through unfamiliar landscapes, a snatch of conversation, a face turned to look at me with Ìýcuriosity, yet the act of painting is stationary. I stand with a cup of coffee, staring at the painting to be, trying to Ìýremember, to recreate that feeling. I listen to the news on the radio and my mind starts to open up. I hear women Ìýfrom all over the world being interviewed on Women's ÌýHour; I listen to the Afternoon Play. Happily I paint, knowing my mind is travelling though I'm standing still."
