"I don't have fairies at the bottom of my garden but I do have a studio. When I go inside the first thing I do, after shutting the door, is switch on the radio and immediately my other world is complete. My easel is set up and the Afternoon Play is about to start on Radio 4. I am relaxed, yet my senses are fully and delightfully occupied. The painting develops effortlessly before me as the drama unfolds and time stands still. There may not be fairies at the bottom of my garden but the radio ... is magic!"
