"As a teeenager I always did my best work when drawing portraits in pubs. I went on to paint portraits and teach Ìýdrawing and anatomy, I talked and listened all the time that I was working. Later I discovered RadioÌý4 and found that at last I could work well alone. During my studies relating to laterality and the use of the right brain when painting, an expert explained to me that I had an over-active left brain, the orthographic side (I talk a lot!), and that by listening and talking I was distracting my left brain so that my right brain could get on with the work. I still Ìýpaint people but not portraits and I don't need the model to talk to all the time, as I have my magic RadioÌý4 and after 25 years as a professional artist I would not be without it. Thanks RadioÌý4, you keep me sane!"
