"Without radio the silence in my studio would be deafening. I have the radio tuned to Radio 4 all the time, it informs, entertains and occasionally provokes me to to shout out loud. Working as an artist is a solitary affair and the radio provides companionship and frees the mind to explore other areas intuitively. I am a landscape artist and as I listen I find myself transported to another place and the strokes on the canvas become freer, more natural and colours leap off the palette. My work would be much the poorer without 'my' Radio 4."
