Waterlillies by Julia Clifton

"As a working artist without Radio 4 on in my studio I find the silence deafening! When I listen to the countryside programmes I get inspired by them, my subject matter is Ìýmainly the natural world. The radio is a brilliant tool for the Ìýimagination. With the more mundane tasks I can switch off and become absorbed in a play, or laugh out loud at comedy. I simply couldn’t work without Radio 4 being on. I now realise how many artists are experiencing similar feelings of companionship and stimulation. Rather than working alone I now feel I am part of a bigger picture!"
