"I moved from France to London in 1987. I am an artist and listen daily to Radio 4 in my studio, in particular while drawing repetitive marks with graphite on paper forming Ìýlarge scale images like ‘Sea Drawing’. The Archers and most afternoon plays have finally given me clues to social Ìýbehaviour and etiquette in the UK. Most programmess have been useful in acquiring new and precise vocabulary. Listening hourly to the news has helped map out the political scene here. I now understand silences and pauses as well as the subtleties of tone in the English language much better."
