AHMED IS MAKING A PHONECALL. THE PHONE RINGS.ÌýHER: [PHONE MESSAGE] Hi. This is Claire. Please leave me a message.
ÌýHIM: Claire, it’s me. I’m at the police station. In Canary Wharf. I don’t know why.
ÌýOFFICER: You must speak English here in the detention area, Mr. Hamil.
ÌýHIM: [ON THE PHONE] I don’t know what I’m doing here. They won’t listen to me.
ÌýOFFICER: Mr. Hamil, would you mind stepping into the custody suite?
ÌýSCENE 14
ÌýMID-INTERVIEW.
ÌýOFFICER: What can you tell me about Claire Thomas?
ÌýHIM: I told you. She is my girlfriend. I am visiting her for the weekend.
ÌýTRANSLATOR: The Eurostar tickets are cheaper during the week.
ÌýOFFICER: Do you have a return ticket?
ÌýTRANSLATOR: Vous avez un billet de retour ?
ÌýHIM: This is ridiculous.
ÌýOFFICER: Calm down, Mr. Hamil. We are trying to contact Miss Thomas.
ÌýHIM: Arrêtez de me dire de me calmer.
ÌýOFFICER: I have explained the nature of the arrest. Why are you carrying a map and information on the Houses of Parliament?
ÌýOFFICER: No. That’s fine. We can check security tapes.
ÌýHIM: Incredible.
ÌýOFFICER: Why did you look at your phone on disembarking the escalators, Mr. Hamil?
ÌýHIM: Sorry?
ÌýOFFICER: Why did look at your phone?
ÌýHIM: To see the time.
ÌýOFFICER: Why not your watch?
ÌýHIM: I don’t know.
ÌýOFFICER: And what was the time?
ÌýHIM: Six o’clock.
ÌýOFFICER: You looked at your phone. Then up at the camera.
ÌýHIM: Camera?
ÌýOFFICER: Security camera.
ÌýHIM: I didn’t.
ÌýOFFICER: We have footage of you looking directly into the camera by the ticket barriers.
ÌýHIM: I don’t understand ...
ÌýHIM: No. I understand what you’re saying. I didn’t see a camera.
ÌýOFFICER: You have security cameras in Paris?
ÌýHIM: Yes, of course we do.
ÌýSCENE 15
ÌýHER: Ahmed ...
ÌýOFFICER: This is Police Constable Drayton.
ÌýHER: Who?
ÌýOFFICER: Police Constable Drayton. Is that Miss Claire Thomas?
ÌýHER: Yes. What the hell’s going on?
