Can fitness trackers hinder weight loss?

Wearable tech, designed to aid weight loss, may actually be counterproductive suggests a new study. Fitness trackers monitor characteristics like heart rate, calories and steps taken.

The University of Pittsburgh followed 500 people who were trying to lose weight over a two year period, and those who didn鈥檛 wear any fitness trackers actually lost more weight.

Matt Roberts, a personal trainer in London, believes fitness trackers can be used as 鈥渁n excuse to do nothing or to eat more.鈥

However, he stresses that wearable tech is relatively new and still young in its development.
