"As a full-time artist working in Orkney, Radio 4 is my constant companion and sometimes inspiration, bringing the outside world to me as I work. Working in a remote environment can be a lonely and insular experience, however the radio brings a multiude of society’s facets to me. I find programmes such as Women’s Hour and From ÌýOur Own Correspendent stimulating and thought provoking, Ìýbringing a connection to humanity and world events yet Ìýnot distracting from the visual attention I need to give fully to my work. The wide variey of humour, drama and informative programmes prevents me from becoming too narrow in my focus."
