Helicopter was borrowed from the French word 'hélicoptère'. However this French word was constructed from the Greek words 'helikos' and 'pteron', meaning 'spiral wing'.
The word robot was first introduced by the Czech writer Karel ÄŒapek in his play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), published in 1920. The play begins in a factory that makes artificial people called robots.
