While the global debate about climate change has intensified, a key political group in the United States, Christian evangelicals, have remained sceptical and even hostile to the science.

But a group of 86 evangelical leaders have just signed a declaration calling for urgent action to combat global warming.

It's split the evangelical community, but could it change the debate in Washington?
